Bedroom 1 · upstairs · king
Restoration Hardware king, Helix mattress
A large primary with an en-suite bath, a yoga corner and a Peloton.
Stone Ridge · Hudson Valley · New York
A warm, quiet house in the woods outside Stone Ridge. A gas fireplace, heated bathroom floors, very good beds, and nowhere you have to be. Two hours from New York City.
The house
We built this place for downtime, and winter is when it works best. The gas fireplace sits right by the dining table, all three bathrooms have heated floors, and the two upstairs bedrooms have blackout blinds and beds by Restoration Hardware and Hästens.
Downstairs is one open floor with the kitchen in the middle: the dining table and fireplace on one side, the living room with a Frame TV, board games and puzzles on the other.
You're also close to everything. Coffee and groceries in Stone Ridge are five minutes away, High Falls is ten, and Kingston and New Paltz are twenty. Minnewaska and Mohonk are twenty minutes for a winter hike.
It's a different house in every season.

Snow on the trees, the fireplace on, and staying in as the whole plan.

The gardens wake up. Raised beds of herbs, greens and flowers.

Fireflies fill the woods behind the yard. Hence the name.

Farm stands, orchards and harvest season, all within fifteen minutes.

Outside
The whole yard is deer-fenced. That keeps the gardens intact, keeps ticks down, and gives kids and small dogs room to run.
There's Gloster teak furniture on the patio, a Weber gas grill, a Solo Stove Yukon fire pit under string lights, a hammock between two cedars, and enough lawn for frisbee. The screened porch off the kitchen is where most dinners end up.
